The main technical aim of the project is the development of new smart textile products oriented at solving the need for preventive and cosmetic treatment of the main pathologies of the foot. This will be done by the additives of the materials, both in the manufacture and in the finishing processes of the yarn. Moreover, there will be products designed so thatduring the manufacturing process the ecological footprint is as small as possible, taking into account aspects such as the relation cost-effective therapy for each material or the use of recycled and/or natural products in the manufacture of materials, as well as the use of environmentally sustainable products.

In this context, the main goal of the current project is to help companies that are part of the research committee to develop new products of high added value that will help them to improve their sales figures in a near future and, therefore, be more competitive. All this is going to be done through the incorporation of new nanostructured materials and the study of weaving systems for the optimum control in the variables that make up the fabric of healthcare garments to be developed along the project.

 In short, the general technical aim that has been established is the DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TEXTILE PRODUCTSAIMED TO GIVE SOLUTION TO MAJOR PATHOLOGIES OF THE FOOT BY MEANS OF THE MANUFACTURE OF PRODUCTS FORPREVENTION, THERAPY AND COSMETIC TREATMENT:

  • Diabetic foot.
  • Dry Foot.
  • Ischemia / Arterial insufficiency.
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
  • Venous insufficiency.
  • Athlete's foot (fungus, bad smell, etc…).

The duration of the project is three years and a half, beginning in May 2012 and ending in December 2015. During that time, the companies will work on the main problems presented by these pathologies to solve and propose, in the best possible way, therapy products and appropriate cosmetics to each of the pathologies, from a modern perspective and fully in line with fashion.
